Summary: Volunteer professionals or students visiting the classroom should be prepared to speak about their education, path into their career choice, and answer questions from students if they have any.
Classroom visit expectations:
- Everyone should introduce themselves, have students go around the room and introduce themselves and share one thing they are looking forward to this year or their career interest. Volunteer students can share what specialty they are interested in
- Discuss your education level, how long it took to decide to go to medical school, what undergraduate experiences you had, and how your prepared for graduate level education in undergraduate
- Discuss the process of deciding to go to medical school: What did your process look like? How did you overcome self-doubt? Was there a defining moment where you decided to apply to medical school?
- Other topics of discussion could include. . .
- What clubs are you involved with and describe any leadership positions you hold.
- How do you manage your time? How do you balance your schoolwork with other aspects of your life? (Work, student organizations, social)
- What types of activities are available to you when you are not in class? (Extracurricular, community involvement, volunteer experiences, research)
- Was the transition from high school to college difficult? What about undergraduate into graduate school?
- How is your class schedule? What was the hardest part about transitioning your schedule for post-secondary education or graduate school?

- Do you have homework? How do you ensure your work gets done?
- What kind of food do you eat as a college student?
