Location: Clendening Auditorium in the Robinson Building

Vital Skills Summary (20 minutes): Volunteers should be prepared to speak about the importance of vital signs and demonstrate how vital signs are recorded (follow parts of the linked, publicly available vital signs lab). Consider asking students if they can list all the vital signs, cover the basic components of the six vital signs, discuss the importance of vital signs for diagnoses, and demonstrate how to use various equipment to record vital signs. Can highlight historical inequities in race/gender when being triaged which leads to lack of diagnoses or misdiagnoses as part of the conversation.

Informal Tour Summary (20 minutes): Volunteers conduct a short informal tour of the facilities on the KUMC campus. This is for freshman to sophomore year high school students from Hays to be able to see the campus. During the tour medical students who will be guiding the tour can share a little bit about what graduate school is like and their process of getting into medical school at KUMC. Students can also ask questions about the facilities, class schedules, and medical school experience.

Clendening Library Summary (20 minutes): Volunteers will lead students to the Clendening Library. Each group will observe and learn about medical artifacts as part of the history of medicine.
